Use Every Opportunity to Get the Word Out!

typesetSometimes you just need to communicate: speaking, writing, or blogging! In fact, the reason I began this blog was to have place where you and I could connect.  I believe that we have an incredible message burning within that we are compelled to get out.  Jeremiah put it this way…

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire.  (Jeremiah 20:9)

The World is Changing and So Is the Way We Do Missions

world is changingThe world is changing and so is the way we do missions.  What you’ll see is that it is no longer a case where missionaries go in and dictate when, and what, and how things are done.

There was a time when this type of leverage did exist, and it was purely due to economics and education.  In far too many cases this created an unhealthy dependency upon the church in the West, and we’ve been second-guessing the results ever since.

Fortunately, times have changed. Today the challenges and opportunities are all still there, but we face them in a different way.  We now face them together with our national counterparts.  Just what does this look like?

Be The Best Missionary The World Has Ever Seen!

missions opportunitiesThere are so many opportunities for you today in missions. I know older missionaries that went overseas by boat. Some went with the idea that they were going for life! Today, we can hop on a plane and be almost anywhere in the world in a day! And just because of that, your opportunities are endless.

Imagine yourself playing soccer with some street kids in Brazil… Or traveling by canoe up a river to a village that’s never heard the gospel… Playing your guitar at the park in Seville, Spain with people stopping to listen… or giving free English lessons on a university campus in Beijing!

Missions is not as complicated as you might think.  In fact, if you’re a Christian, you were created to live a missional life!  But, don’t worry. We’ll get into that in later.
